Eligible Items

During Iowa's tax-free weekend, the following items are exempt from sales tax:

Non-Eligible Items

Certain items do not qualify for the tax exemption:

  • Items priced at $100 or more
  • Backpacks and garment bags
  • Watches and jewelry
  • Umbrellas
  • Clothing repairs or alterations
  • Sporting equipment
  • Special clothing or footwear for athletics

Online Purchases

Items purchased online are included in the tax exemption as long as they are ordered and paid for during the tax-free weekend.
